Ethos and Philosophy:
We in the History Department at Portchester Community School want students to take a good look around them at the world in which we live and to help them find a place in that world. In order to do this, they will need to understand what has happened before them to help make sense of what is going on around them today. To this end, students study a variety of people, events and time periods, making links to current issues when and where possible. Students will learn key skills that they will use in other subjects, but also in their future lives and careers such as making judgements, analysis, interpretation, evaluation.
