Portchester Community School is a Specialist Performing Arts College. All of our students are timetabled for Dance, Drama and Music lessons in Year 7 and 8, and there is a lot of opportunity to take part in extra-curricular activities. The school encourages students to perform in assemblies, at lunchtimes, in concerts and productions, and we take part in up to 40 performances each year in the community. The departments work together on joint productions, and there are also discrete performance evenings for each area. Students are encouraged to use their performance skills across the curriculum, and a growing number of staff support productions as performers, backstage and technical crew. We encourage students to take part in the planning of performing arts events at Portchester, and have established a partnership group made up of staff from our local network of schools. This enables us to deliver a programme of arts events and performances each year, which serve the needs of our local and extended community.
