What is the surface area of your clothes?  That's right, about the same as six football pitches(!)  When you get involved with nanotechnology the tiny hairs and folds in the fabric of your clothing is an opportunity for scientists to add an ingredient to washing powders which can neutralize toxic chemicals in the air!  Scientist Phil Waywell was able to spend an afternoon with some of Portchester's Year 9 students looking at the way forward for "Green" clothing - but wait... What are these clothes going to be like?  Another guest was Helen Storey who has dressed Madonna and Michael Jackson amongst others, so clearly knows what she is talking about.  Our students looked at ways in which this new technology can be marketed with a view to meeting again in June.
